Dr. Robert G. Danage
Chaplain Robert G. Danage began his Chaplaincy Ministry career with the U.S. Department of Justice |Federal B bureau of Prisons in 1987. He was a Chaplain Trainee at the Federal Correctional Institution LaTuna in El Paso, Texas. He was promoted to Department Head Chaplain at the new activated Federal Prison Camp El Paso which is located on The Fort Bliss Army Military Base.
In 1991 Chaplain Danage was promoted to Supervisory Chaplain at The Federal Correctional Complex, Marianna, located in Marianna, Florida. This federal prison housed males and females with the High Security Females Shawnee, Unit, a medium security male facility and a low security female Federal Prison Camp.
In 1993, Dr. Danage was promoted to Regional Chaplaincy Administrator for The Mid-Atlantic Region | U.S. Department of Justice Federal Bureau of Prisons. During his tenure, Robert had oversight responsibility for Chaplaincy Services to provide technical assistance and support regarding the religious beliefs and practices of committed offenders at approximately 25 federal prions comprised throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, including penitentiaries and medical centers in the following 10 states that made up the Mid-Atlantic Region: Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the District of Columbia.
Through his distinguish career as a federal Prions Chaplain Danage severed at FCI Memphis, in Memphis, Tennessee, FCI Elkton, in Columbiana County, Ohio and FCI Seagoville in Seagoville, Texas.
He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons in 2015 as The Supervisory Department Head Chaplain at The Federal Medical Center Carswell which is the only female medical center for female federal offenders in the country. It has multiple units within its correctional complex: a female federal prison camp, a female medical unit, a female mental health unit, a female general population unit, and the administrative high security unit for female offenders.
Robert G. Danage received a Doctor of Divinity Degree (D.Min.) from Southern Methodist University -Perkins School of Theology. His thesis project was on Mass Incarceration, Criminal Justice Reform-The Role and Response of the Church-Reimagining doing prison outreach ministry in the 21st Century. He received a Master of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) degree from Oral Robert University Graduate School of Theology and Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Community Health Planning and Hospital Administration from The University of Cincinatti.
Special Assignments
- Chaplain Robert G. Danage served on the Bureau’s Crisis Support Team where he provided pastoral care, crisis intervention for federal bureau of prisons staff, family members, inmates and employee who were impacted by natural disasters and critical incidents such as hurricanes, floods, fires, tornados, prison riots, prison hostages, prison homicides, prison suicides and federal executions.
- Along with Bureau of Prisons Chaplaincy Ministry career, Robert also served as a Chaplain in The United States Navy Reserves. He severed at several Marine Corps Bases and Naval Instillations including Bethesda Naval Hospital (now Walter Reed), Naval Air Station Norfolk, Naval Air Station Pensacola, Marine Corps Base Camp Le June, and many others.
- Dr. Danage now serves as Manager of the Pastoral Services Department at Methodist Midlothian Medical Center in Midlothian, Texas.
